Built in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s, this original building was a multifamily duplex. Take a drive around the surrounding area and you will find similar stone buildings all with their own unique style. These homes are very unique and typical to this part of Sainte-Adele.

Having gone through multiple owners and various renovations it wasn’t until the late 60’s or early 70’s when an English immigrant converted the multifamily duplex into a single family dwelling by completely opening up one half of the building to create a huge living space open to 3 floors.

This particular property bordering ‘’ Riviere aux mulets’’ river is located on the north end of town on Blvd. Sainte-Adele.

In 1995 the property was purchased and a major renovation was done to get it ready for the opening of a four room bed and breakfast.

In 1998 an extension was added, out back to increase the number of rooms to seven with a superb deck on top facing the river thus bringing the status from bed and breakfast to Inn.

In 2002 a 2nd building was added to the property adding six suites and a loft all with fireplaces, Jacuzzis and right on the river.

In 2009 a change in business strategy brings on the transformation of the three lower rooms to become changing rooms, relaxation room and steam room. The Inn is now open to public for day spa visits.

In 2012 many updates and renovations are done to the main building, including the rooms facing the river as well as the dining room and the vestibule to the steam room. A second sauna, infra-red heated zone and flagstone patio were all added to increase Nordic spa amenities.

Stay tuned as 2013 has many projects already underway such as the completion of a Nordic year round waterfall, private relaxation areas and a unique natural stone bolder hot tub.

“Le P’tit Train du Nord” Linear Park

Welcome to the longest linear park in Canada located in     the heart of the Laurentians via the old railway line built in the early     20th century.  The linear park     “Le P’tit Train du Nord” is 230 kilometers of incredible beauty,     along many rivers and lakes.  From     Saint-Jérôme to Mont-Laurier, discover the Laurentians in its natural state     as you pass through beautiful villages surrounded by forests and     mountains.  Enjoy the four seasons,     each with their wealth  and explore     by bike, inline skates, cross country skis or snowmobile.  Since 1996, people have come to enjoy     this park which is accessible to all due to its low elevation and multiple     service points. The train stations in the period architecture are sometimes     transformed into coffee shops, warm huts or for rental and repair of     equipment. The trail is dotted with picnic areas in scenic places for     everyone to enjoy the adventure at their own pace.

“Le P’tit Train du Nord” was the dream of the     legendary pastor of St. Jerome, Antoine Labelle. Built between Saint-Jérôme     to Mont-Laurier in the years 1891 to 1909, the railroad was going to be key     to the development of the region. “Le P’tit Train du Nord” has     fostered the growth of the tourism industry in the Laurentians. Upon     entering the station early locomotives, holiday resorts come to life.     “Le P’tit Train du Nord” particularly enjoyed unprecedented     success during the 1920s to 1940, when the Canadian Pacific Railway, owner     of the land, set up the snow trains. Happy convoys leaving Montreal every     weekend, carrying large nature lovers and skiers who were indulging in     skiing, a new popular sport in the region. “Le P’tit Train du Nord     “made his last trip for travelers November 15, 1981 and for freight in     1989. Seven years later, in 1996, the linear park “Le P’tit Train du     Nord” was inaugurated. Since then, the station has been renovated and     converted into points of service and the linear park generates a complete     tourist activity to accommodate cyclists, skaters, skiers and snowmobiling.

Aerobic Corridor (58 km)

Former route of the railway from Morin-Heights in Saint-Rémi     d’Amherst, park Aerobic Corridor invites cyclists looking for an experience     of nature. Less busy, the Corridor offers 58 km of trails through scattered     lakes, lush valleys and crossing the fabulous Red River wilderness. A nature     experience in its purest form!

With great regret this blog is dedicated to L’eau à la bouche a landmark establishment in the Laurentians Sainte-Adele, Quebec. Sadly, after 34 years of being an icon as a Fine dining establishment, L’eau a la bouche restaurant, L’eau a la bouche hotel and L’eau a la bouche H2o Spa have announced that they have gone bankrupt and have closed their doors as of April 2013.

It is very unfortunate to see the owners Anne Desjardins and Pierre Audette have had to let go of their lifelong dream. For many years Eau à la Bouche restaurant  attracted travelers, vacationers and corporate business from all over the province, as well as having a great international reputation.

After opening in 1979 only 7 years later they became part of the ‘’Relais et Chateaux’’ which recommends charming hotels and gourmet restaurants. Classified as one of the best, their reputation was well on its way… l’eau à la bouche means “mouthwatering”.  The kitchen used native local ingredients as well as unique à la mode presentations and won many culinary awards over the years.

Sainte-Adele in the heart of the Laurentians will miss this fine establishment and it will certainly effect an already economically challenged tourism situation in our area.

This is the kind of spot that is laid back enough that you don’t feel like you have to have perfect makeup and hair while you enjoy the spa. Yet it is romantic in room setting and with natural outdoor beauty. The rooms are meant for rest, relaxation and romance…..no televisions, phones or alarm clocks! I have been here twice and plan to return!
