For the first course, you could have one of the classics they offer, such as the Caesar salad or the French onion soup, or something more gourmet, like their marinated brie on the grill or their cloth-wrapped foie gras. For the main course, they offer various fish and sea food dishes, as well as tartars, but you could also rediscover your favorite comfort food dishes, such as the burger or the mac n’ cheese. Restaurant Le Feu de Bois

To enjoy an authentic wood-burning oven pizza, Le Feu de Bois is the ideal restaurant, offering high quality, fresh produce, and homemade pasta as well. Bakery La Farandole

La Farandole is a bakery, but it is also a cake shop, a caterer, and a restaurant. Its rustic decor follows its philosophy: simple cuisine, made from local produce, with no trans fat and no microwave, just like in the old days. So, to enjoy a dinner with a typical Quebec flavor, such as the rib steak, or for a delicious and nutritious breakfast, come to La Farandole in Sainte-Adèle.

Spas in the Laurentians

Description & Details

Spas in the Laurentians

SPAs in the Laurentians to discover during your next trip up north. We all live busy lives. We all have things to do, places to be, people to meet. We make time for others but sometimes forget about ourselves along the way. It’s always okay to put yourself first when it comes to your wellbeing. To help, we’d like to present to you our list of spas in the Laurentians that can help provide an escape from the day to day.

Spas in the Laurentians

The Polar Bear Club

Located in Piedmont, this Quebec spa has all the amenities of a hotel with all the relaxation facilities of a spa; one could call it’s the best of both worlds. The Polar Bear SPA is an ideal place to escape to with a large group of friends or family. With a vast selection of baths and saunas available, you’ll be reaching your level of Zen in no time. For the more adventurous types, there is even the option to go for a swim in the river nearby. Just be sure to bring your own lock, towel, robes, flip-flops and water bottle as none of these items are included.

If you’re not up for being a social butterfly and simply want some “me” time, then perhaps Spa Beaux Rêves is a better fit for you relaxation getaway. With a capacity limit of only 30 guests, Spa Beaux Rêves offers a more cozy and private environment for their guests.

Spa Ofuro

For those looking to escape to a Morin-Heights spa, Spa Ofuro is a little more on the cozy side than the larger Tremblant spas. What’s notable about this Laurentian spa is that they do not offer Wifi. This allows for guests to be at peace with themselves with no outside influences of your busy life trying to creep back in.

Don’t want to leave the spa to get food? Not to worry, Spa Ofuro offers a delightful continental breakfast to start your day of relaxation right.

If you’re looking for a more gastronomical escape the Beaux Rêves has partnered with two local Ste Adele restaurants, Chez Milot and La Chitarra. Chez Milot offers a $21 “5 à 7” where La Chitarra offers a nice intimate dining setting for you and that special someone. You can read more about them in our recent article on the restaurants in Ste Adele.

Scandinave Spa

It’s all in the name for this Spa Mont Tremblant, if you’re looking for a traditional Scandinavian spa in the Laurentians, then Spa Scandinave is the place to be.

Similar to the Polar Bear Spa, Spa Scandinave is the perfect place for you and a group of friends to go to after a long day of skiing. They even offer a ski and spa package! Spa Scandinave offers a variety of spa treatments and massages that will be sure to relieve you of any stress. However, you need to remember that you must be quiet when attending this spa. They hold true to the traditions of classic Scandinavian spas, so no chit chatting. Their belief is your soul will find peace in the purest of silence.

It should also be noted that since Spa Scandinave is a traditional Scandinavian spa, they do not offer lodging accommodations. Beaux Rêves, though smaller, offers a range of spa and activities packages. From skiing, to ATV to horseback riding, you’ll be sure to get your set of thrills and chill time while being able to spend the night in one of their lovely rooms.

Spa & Hotel Le Finlandais

If you wish to escape but not too far from home we recommend checking out Spa Finlandais in Rosemere. Located just past Laval, Spa Finlandais offers relaxation and escape minutes from Montreal Island.

What is most notable about Spa Filandais is the variety of themed rooms they offer. If you are looking to take your spa retreat to the 9’s then you have come to the right place. Spa Finlandais has numerous two-story rooms equipement with large king or queen sized beds, 55” plasma TVs, rainforest showers, living rooms, heated floors and even private terraces and more. With the variety of rooms to stay in, spa services and even conference hall, Le Finlandais is a great place to relax while enjoying the high life.

If this is not within your budget, Spa Beaux Rêves offers affordable room rates! They may not come with 55” TVs and rainforest showers, but their rooms have fireplaces, hot tubs and a lovely view of the river. What’s to be noticed is that the rooms at Beaux Rêves do not have TVs or alarm clocks, this way guests are sure to feel disconnected from their busy lives.

Sushi Ste Adele

Who can say no to sushi? What caught our eye, and stomach, with Sushi Ste Adel is their quality of fish used in each one of their sushi creations. Unlike most sushi places, they use a nice amount of fish in their rolls which come in a nice variety.  There is something on the menu for everyone, and in case you are wondering, yes that is real crab in the California hand roll.  There is no short on quality at Sushi Ste Adele. What’s also great is that they offer takeout so you can enjoy your meal in the coziness of your inn room.

Dog Sledding in the Heart of the Laurentians

Aventures Plein Air: Dog sledding Canada is something everyone should experience in their lifetime. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of taking a dog sled ride through the woods or on the frozen lakes. One of our favorite places for dog sled rides is Aventures Plein Air, situated on the lakeside of Lac Morency in the Laurentians. Visitors have the option to drive a dog sled or go with a guide. You’ll be able to travel through trails especially groomed for dog sledding. Bringing a camera is recommended to capture both the experience and the breathtaking views and surprises you’ll encounter. Learn more about the dog sledding packages at Aventures Plein Air here.

Ski Mont Gabriel, Sainte-Adele: Ski Mont Gabriel is located in Sainte-Adèle and is about 70 km away from Montreal. Though known as a ski resort, Mont Gabriel is also a place where adults and families can enjoy the thrilling experience of dog sledding and a variety of other winter activities. The resort has 18 trails and a 200 metre vertical drop or 656 ft. Multi-day dog sledding trips are very popular at Mont Gabriel. Check it out here.

Centre d’activités Nature Kanatha-Aki: Centre d’activités Nature Kanatha-Aki is located in the Laurentians and near the magnificent landscape of the valley and forest surrounding Morency lake. This centre is notable for their 5 hour dog sled package. This package includes a 5 hours dog sled excursion that teaches you how to better understand the craft of guiding a dog sled through the landscapes of the northern region. Midway through the excursion, you are stopped for a break and a meal in the heart of the forest. This is the perfect activity for someone who wants absolute thrilling adventure. If the 5 hour excursion is not your thing, Kanatha-Aki also offers mushing for 1 hour. Learn more here.

Do You Prefer to Skate in the Laurentians?

Do you prefer to skate across a beautiful ice skating rink in the Laurentians instead? There are 4 skating rinks that we think you’ll enjoy. For those who want to go ice skating in the Val-David region, Patinage Parc Léonidas-Dufresne is ideal. Located on 2525, rue de l’Église, this skating rink is perfect for both free skating and those who want to start a game of ice hockey. Lac Masson is also a reputable skating rink on the lake of Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson, Quebec. In fact, at approximately 8 km in length, Lac Masson is known as the longest skating rink on a lake in the province. Our two other favorites are Patinage Chalet Pauline-Vanier located in Saint-Sauveur and Patinage Lac Rond in Sainte-Adèle.

Sainte-Adèle Nordic Spa: 3 Reasons Why Gift Certificates are a Great Gift Idea for the Holidays

Description & Details

Sainte-Adèle SpaGift certificates and gift cards have been increasingly popular over the last couple of years, especially at our Sainte-Adèle Spa.  If you’re wondering whether or not you should go down the gift certificate road this holiday season, fret no more. Below are 3 reasons why gift certificates can be a great gift idea for the holiday season.

  1. A gift card is less likely to go to waste.

It’s happened to all of us: we’ve been lucky enough to receive a gift from a loved one, but the gift went to waste because we didn’t exactly love it or find use for it. Chances are the person will use a gift card to buy something they desire which gives them more purchasing options from where the gift card is from. This means that the gift will never go to waste because the gift receiver will always find something to buy with it.

  1. Gift certificates are simple and quick.

If you’re fretting about what to get for someone and need it now, the gift certificate is a great option. Virtually every retailer in this day and age provides the option for you to purchase a gift certificate or gift card. If you have a specific store or experience in mind, you can literally just walk in and request a gift card at the cash. There’s no need to spend hours going around the mall searching for the right gift. Just make sure to make the gift certificate meaningful, which leads us to the next point: give someone a new experience by ordering a gift certificate with meaning. It’s that easy.

  1. They can be personal and meaningful.

Don’t be mistaken, you can get very meaningful with the purchase of a gift card as a holiday gift for one of your loved ones and there are a number of ways to make gift card giving extra special. If your friend is an avid foodie and loves to cook varied dishes, you can purchase a gift card from a kitchen retailer like William Sonoma, Stokes or Zara home. Place the gift card inside a new set of place mats purchased for your friend and roll it up. Get creative. This shows that you not only know the person, but want them to pursue this interest by providing them with the opportunity to do so.

Give your loved one a chance to relax in our Nordic Spa by giving them a gift certificate to our Sainte-Adèle Spa for the holidays!

Do you think your loved one would appreciate a spa day or is in need of a 60 minute massage? Get them a gift certificate from our Sainte-Adèle Spa. 3 Benefits of Taking a Laurentians Weekday Getaway

Description & Details

img_2650Sometimes a short Laurentians weekday Getaway is all you need to recharge your batteries. We’ve all been there: trying to manage a busy home and work life on low energy levels and using the weekend to do nothing but regain our balance before we have to do it all over again. If you’re currently feeling this way, you may be in the need of a quick weekday getaway to regain your energy.  If the circumstances permit, a weekday getaway may be more beneficial than a weekend getaway. Below are 3 benefits of taking a weekday getaway.

1) Laurentians weekday getaways are cost effective

Depending on what you decide to do during your short time off, weekday getaway rates tend to be at a discounted rate in comparison to weekend rates, resulting in greater savings. At our Laurentians Inn and spa, our weekday rates for accommodation packages are approximately $40.00 cheaper for two in comparison to the weekend rate.

2) Fewer people visit inns and spas during the week

Many who contemplate taking a mini getaway decide to book for a weekend but less so during the week. This results in fewer people at the location of your mini-getaway. For those who can, this can be a great opportunity to enter deep relaxation and unplug from it all in a truly solitude environment. At Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves, we limit our capacity of spa-goers at a time to ensure that your experience at our Nordic spa is always inviting and relaxing. Our inn and spa is never crowded or rushed regardless of the day or time of the week. However, there are fewer people staying on weekdays. This further ensures a relaxing Laurentians weekday getaway and Beaux Rêves experience.

3) You’re escaping the most stressful time of the week

The work-week can be a stressful time for many. Most are so overworked during the week that when the weekend comes around, it’s tempting to just sit on the couch with a glass of wine. Though this sounds great for many, sometimes there’s no better feeling than taking a few extra days off during the week for a weekday getaway. Whether you work full time in an office, construction site or run your own business in your home office, a quick weekday spa getaway in the heart of the Laurentians can do wonders in helping you regain your energy and equilibrium.

Escape the stresses of the week and book a day escapade or a relaxing Laurentians weekday getaway at our spa.

Enjoy the Beaux Rêves experience at our Laurentians spa through any one of our accommodation packages.  Call us at 1-800-279-7679 (Montreal: 514-316-7808) or email us at info@beauxreves.com to reserve your mini-getaway today. Laurentians Spa Skincare Experts Provide 5 Tips in Maintaining Skin Health

Description & Details

Laurentians spaAs the aging process of your skin can be altered significantly when treating your skin and overall health with true care, our Laurentians spa skincare experts have provided 5 simple tips that can truly benefit skin health if adopted into your daily routine.

1) Our Laurentians spa team is big on drinking plenty of water and maintaining a healthy diet!

One of the most important things you can do for your skin and overall health is to stay extremely hydrated. It is recommended that you drink approximately 8 glasses of water a day. Staying hydrated allows you to flush out all of the toxins from your body. Many recommend boiling water and adding a couple of slices of lemon and drinking this first thing in the morning before breakfast. This cleanses your body from any impurities and starts off your day on the right note.  Eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins can further help you look and feel your best.

2) Moisturize your skin with organic coconut oil

Organic coconut oil is high in natural saturated fats and is one of the most benefiting all-purpose oils out there. Rub coconut oil instead of body lotion all over your body after the shower. When you use coconut oil as your primary moisturizer, everything seeping into your skin is 100% natural, unlike other over the counter moisturizers. You can find the product at a number of locations including Costco and natural/organic grocers.

3) Protect yourself from the sun

A lifetime of unprotected sun exposure can cause an early onset of wrinkles, age spots, skin cancer and a number of other issues regarding the skin. One of the best ways to prevent any of these issues is to use sunscreen with a minimum of 30 SPF. Many drugstores now carry sunscreen with SPF 60 and above. Moreover, you can wear sun protective clothing including sun hats and thin swimsuit cover-ups/dresses when roaming the beach or sitting by the pool with your girlfriends and family. It is also recommended that you avoid sun exposure from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm when the sun rays are at their most potent.

4) Stay clear of smoking

Next to regular unprotected sun exposure, one of the worst things you can do to your skin is to smoke cigarettes. Smoking narrows the blood vessels on the outmost layers of your skin and damages collagen and elastin, significantly speeding up the aging process. The best way to avoid the negative effects from smoking is to quit entirely.

5) Be gentle with your skin

Our skin is extremely sensitive to the touch. The tugging of the skin that is caused when shaving skin or drying it with a towel can cause damage over time. After washing or bathing, gently pat your skin dry instead of rubbing the towel along your face or body. When shaving, ensure that your skin is well lubricated with coconut oil or another shaving cream and use a sharp razor. Avoid harsh soaps as well, as many can strip away the natural oils that provide moisture.

Visit our Nordic spa and book one of our massages, a day escapade or a relaxing getaway.

The Three Major Benefits of Taking a Girls Getaway

Description & Details

3friendsIn the last few years we have seen the trend of women vacationing together increasing greatly. Today, women are far more established in their career and have a greater amount of disposable income than ever before. These women play multiple roles on the daily and understand the values of taking time away for some much needed girl time. Whether you decide to go with your sister, a cousin, or a group of girlfriends, we highly encourage you take a mini girls getaway and to indulge in the Beaux Rêves experience at our Laurentians spa. Below are three major benefits of taking a girls getaway.

Bonds are strengthened:

In most cases, living in close proximity with someone tends to strengthen the bond between you. Spending a weekend away with your closest of girlfriends, sharing a hotel suite and taking part in activities that all of you can enjoy together will have the same effect in strengthening that bond.

Good friends, conversation and experience results in inner self-healing:

In between the roles we play on the job and at home, life can undoubtedly get very busy. When the stresses of everyday life begin to increase, many often find themselves lost and out of touch with their inner being; further causing stress levels to rise. Going away with like-minded friends allows you to decompress. Research indicates that close female friends tend to share very confidential, free talk with each other when uninterrupted from daily responsibilities.  The result is a great form of inner healing that could not necessarily be obtained otherwise.

Stress hormones and blood pressure decrease:

According to research, engaging in enjoyable leisure activities can lower stress hormones and blood pressure. The study explains that when we are under stress, we tend to cut back on activities we would otherwise enjoy because we feel we need more time to deal with the stress. This is the wrong thing to do as regularly taking part in enjoyable activities is a helpful remedy for stress relief.

Come book a girls getaway and leave the stress behind!

Enjoy the Beaux Rêves experience with the girls through any one of our highly rated accommodation packages and spa treatments.  Call us at 1-800-279-7679 (Montreal: 514-316-7808) or send us an email at info@beauxreves.com to reserve your getaway today. 4 Benefits of Going to the Spa If You’re Over 50

Description & Details

coupleLet’s face it, if you’re over the age of 50, your body is going through some undeniable changes. You may be feeling the stresses that come with retirement planning, family life, high blood pressure or managing your business. You may be trying hard to keep up with your energetic grandchildren or you’re helping your own children who are well into their mid-twenties move into their new apartment. Whatever it is, you’ve realized that your body can no longer do the things it was once able to do without feeling some sort of discomfort right after. If you’re at this stage in your life, a visit to the spa can provide tremendous physical and psychological benefits.  According to Day Spa Magazine, there are 76 million American baby boomers with increasing aches and pains and stresses which can be diminished through regular visits to the spa. Here are 5 key benefits of going to the spa and indulging in the Beaux Rêves experience when you’ve over the age of 50.

1) Massage therapy lowers blood pressure

One of the most effective and natural ways to reduce high blood pressure is through massage therapy. If you receive a massage on a semi-regular basis, both your blood pressure and cortisol stress-hormone will decrease. Lowering your blood pressure through regular massage can also decrease your chances of heart attack, kidney failure or a stroke.

2) Posture improvement and joint pain relief

Over time our bodies begin to give out from the day to day activities we’ve been taking part in for years. Even the most mundane activities can cause tension in your joints, neck and back, causing great amount of discomfort. Often times, this pain is caused by poor posture. With a spa treatment like the Swedish massage, muscles are loosened and joints are relaxed which releases pressure points and allows the body to straighten out into a natural posture.  According to research, the gentle strokes and circular, kneading motions from a Swedish massage can improve circulation and reduce tension in tired muscles.

3) Massage therapy strengthens the immune system

A massage at the spa not only helps relieve stress but can also increase the natural activity of the body’s “killer cells”, aiding the body in fighting against bacteria and infection and improves the bodies overall immune function. A healthy immune system is also the result of lowered levels of stress which is also an effect of spending time at the spa and thermotherapy.

4) A spa getaway can rekindle sparks between you and your partner

Visiting the spa or taking a mini-getaway with your life partner can do wonders in rekindling that spark in the relationship. Relaxing in our warm and natural Nordic spa or simply sitting by the fire in your suite with your partner during an overnight stay can provide necessary and greater levels of relaxation, emotional bonding and intimacy.

The Top 4 Requested Spa Treatments at Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves

Description & Details

A beautiful woman enjoying a beauty treatment at the spaIt is no surprise that our spa treatments have been highly rated among our clientele. After all, our team does their very best to ensure that your time at our Laurentians spa is well spent in every way possible. After having some discussions with our faithful clients and our staff at Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves, we’ve made a list of the most requested spa treatments. Below are the finalists — the top 4 requested spa treatments:

  • Therapeutic Massage: The Therapeutic massage is the most requested spa treatment at Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves as it is provided by experienced massage therapists who were trained for this very type of massage. The massage gets you to reach the highest level of physical and mental relaxation. It consists of applying the body with deep pressure. These massages are helpful in significantly reducing anxiety, digestive disorders, tissue strains and injuries as well as insomnia related to stress.

  • Exfoliation Treatments: This exfoliating treatment is practiced upon the entire body and prepares the skin for a better re-mineralization. The combination of massage and exfoliation facilitates hydration, removes dead cells from the skin and essentially speeds up the skin renewal process. It is only when you exfoliate, that your skin can allow its healthy cells to come about, further reducing fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment will also have your skin feeling incredibly soft.
  • Facial Treatment: The facial treatment is popular for its cleansing and rejuvenation abilities. This spa treatment lasts 60 minutes and includes a deep cleansing steam bath, gentle exfoliation and extraction of impurities like blackheads. A revitalizing mask suited to the particular skin condition is sometimes applied following the application of a serum. It all ends with a massage of the neck and shoulders. This treatment refreshes the skin, leaving it radiant.
  • Pedicure: We can all paint and maintain our own fingernails, but maintaining our feet in general is often much more of a hassle. Pedicures are quite popular at Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves because they are provided with complete care. The treatment includes soaking your feet in a warm vibrating bath, removal of calluses, nail trimming and cleaning, foot exfoliation, a massage with moisturizing cream and finally, the application of the polish of your choice. Now your feet will be ready for any occasion, not to mention those favorite summer sandals.

2 Characteristics of Today’s Dad and the Beaux Rêves Experience

Description & Details

dad1The role of today’s father in the family has progressively changed. In the past, the majority of fathers have worked to support their family in various ways. Today, as the gender roles and responsibilities between mother and father meld into one another, the father’s role with the family has evolved as well. While brainstorming this year’s promotion for Father’s Day here at Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves, we realized two primary characteristics of today’s modern dad that helped us come to a final decision regarding the promotion.

They’re playing their part

Today’s fathers are more attentive of their individuality and to their role as a parent and partner altogether.  They are much more apt to assist in cleaning and cooking and they are also given the option of being a stay at home dad – an option that was almost unheard of just 10 years ago. Today, these fathers are helping to break this notion that mothers should be carers and fathers should be the earners. They are helping break this gender gap and stereotype, confirming that what families really need are caring and earning fathers and mothers. Their growing attentiveness has resulted in putting a great importance on building a secure and pleasurable future for not only themselves but for their partner and family as well. Today’s father is all about living well and experiencing life, which is why we believe that your father would appreciate the very unique Beaux Rêves experience.

Aesthetic awareness is on the rise

Studies have shown that today’s men are much more conscious of their health and more careful with their lifestyle and diet than ever before. As today’s father is more attentive in his personal life and to his children, he is also paying much more attention to the health of his skin and acknowledges the importance of relaxation. According to a survey from market research company Mintel, approximately 58% of men between the ages of 18 to 34 say they use a facial moisturizing product regularly. Moreover, many products that were previously marketed to women such as eye cream and serums are now being used by men as well. We too at Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves have many spa treatments for men.

Relax with us on Father’s Day

Like the ever hustling and hardworking modern mother, today’s Dad is deserving of some relaxation time, too. On Sunday June 19, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, we’re throwing a BBQ with onsite entertainment for Dad. Whether you want to enjoy a meal or would like to relax at our Laurentians spa facilities with a 60 minute spa treatment of your choice, we’ve got you covered. You can choose any one of the three packages below:

BBQ: $ 19.95 per person

BBQ & spa access: $ 49 per person

A Tribute to Mom– Because She Deserves It

Description & Details

Mother's day promotion

Most regard Mother’s Day as a day to spoil mom with great amounts of love, affection and treats of all kinds. After all, she deserves it, doesn’t she? But what makes this particular day so special in comparison to any other day of the year? Shouldn’t we be showing love and appreciation towards our mother on a daily basis, all year round? By asking this question to ourselves at Auberge & Spa Beaux Rêves, we realized that mothers of all backgrounds are one of the most hardworking and deserving people in the world. It was realising and acknowledging this that helped us come up with this year’s Super Mom Mother’s day promotion.

These women are commendable. Some are stay-at-home mothers; others work throughout the day and come back home to what many refer to as their second shift with the children. They work all day then come home to make dinner, assist the kids with their homework, prepare lunches for the following day and often pursue community involvement as well. Both of these mothers are respected. Both are appreciated and admired. Not everyone can bear children and then get right back to business.

Mothers care, work hard to provide for their cubs and love even harder. The common reality is that mothers can lose themselves in the midst of the endless housework, hockey or piano practice, love and commotion. Their lives are ever moving and changing. They give their all and there comes a point where this can get exhausting. As such, we’re dedicating an entire week to spoil mom, because she very well deserves it. We’ve curated two promotion packages that we believe are just right for the mom who needs some pampering and wants to experience a restful getaway in the Laurentians.

Mother’s Day Promotion – Super Mom Packages

From May 8 to May 12, moms can indulge in our Day Spa package or our One Night Getaway. The Day Spa package includes access to Nordic spa facilities, two choices of 60 minute spa treatments and one delicious lunch served at Bistro Beaux Rêves or on our terrace. Our One Night Getaway promotion includes one night in the best available room, country style buffet breakfast, access to the Nordic spa facilities, one 60 minute spa treatment and one 4 to 5 course Table d’hôte dinner. As a gift, we’re even throwing in a soft and fluffy bathrobe with whichever one of these packages you choose (retail value of $69).

If you’re unable to participate in our Mother’s day promotion this year, you have the option of purchasing a gift certificate at our Laurentians spa. Call us at 1 800 279-7679 (Montreal: 514-316-7808) or email us at info@beauxreves.com.

During her visit, Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves promises to take care of your mom like she was our very own. – Hannes , Owner

4 Health Benefits of Moderate Sun Exposure

Description & Details

Af0sF2OS5S5gatqrKzVP_SilhoutteAs spring has finally arrived and summer is making its way, we’re beginning to spend more of our time outdoors. With days of endless sun on its way, we thought it would be a great idea to look into the health benefits of moderate sun exposure. It is true that sun exposure is of great value to your health if done moderately and accompanied by regular use of sunscreen. Below we point out four benefits of moderate sun exposure.

Sun exposure strengthens your bones:

Vitamin D simulates absorption of bone-strengthening calcium and phosphorus. However according to recent studies, vitamin D3, a fat soluble vitamin, is formed when the sun hits the skin. When this vitamin is in your blood, the chances of suffering from a fracture of any kind are significantly lowered and this is of great importance to maturing adults.

Brain function is improved:

Today, a significant number of studies show that moderate exposure to the sun can help encourage nerve cell growth in the brain, particularly in the hippocampus. The hippocampus is the part of the brain that assists in the formation and storing of memories. Thus, the more that someone is behind closed walls for a longer period of time, the higher their chances are of becoming forgetful.

Sun exposure helps mild depression:

Have you ever heard of seasonal depression? Seasonal depression is caused by the lack of sunlight and often develops during the winter months. With the Canadian winters, seasonal depression has become an issue familiar to too many. The sun produces Serotonin which is a mood-lifting chemical. Thus, the slightest amount of time spent in the sun can assist in the elevation of your mood.

The sun is a healing agent for some skin disorders:

The sun acts as a healing agent for acne, psoriasis, eczema, jaundice and many other skin disorders. According to a study discussed in an article by David K. William on lifehack.org, a four-week outdoor sunbathing therapy was successfully used to significantly clear symptoms of psoriasis in 84% of subjects. However, if you are to use the sun as a healing agent for skin, you must ensure that you are doing it both under moderation and medical supervision. Don’t overdo it or else the benefits will turn into consequences. Moderation really is key here.

Soak in the sun at our Nordic day spa:

Come and soak in those sun rays as you envelop yourself in the sensations of utter relaxation that our Nordic Spa provides.  Call us at 1 800 279-7679 (Montreal: 514-316-7808) or email us at info@beauxreves.com.

We’re still the welcoming Auberge and Spa that you’ve grown to know, only with new and improved features made to accommodate your needs and desires.

The Nordic Spa

As popularity of our Nordic spa in Laurentians continues to grow, we felt it was necessary to improve its webpage as well. With beautiful and clear photos of the spa and its features, booking a day spa package can be difficult to resist.

Group Getaways are “Happening”

Remember the Corporate Services feature we once offered on our website? Whether you and your fabulous and overworked girlfriend’s are looking to get away from the city or a family looking to spend the day together in a zen environment, our Groups page offers all information necessary for you to choose the best package that fits your circumstances. From customizable packages and special rates for groups of 4 to 12 people, this page mirrors our goal to accommodate everyone as best as we can.

Description & Details

The Partnership Series: Combining outdoor activities and partnerships for the ultimate spa experience in the Laurentians

Over the last twenty years in which Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves has been in business, we have had the opportunity to establish many  valued partnerships with several reputable businesses in the local community that enhance the quality of client experience. There is a profound affect that is had when two or more businesses partner up, after all. In the first of a new series about our featured partners, we wanted to begin with one partnership in particular that brings quite a bit of excitement to the staff and clientele at Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves (and with very good reason).

Dogsledding with Aventures Plein Air

apa-photoSituated in the Laurentians on the shores of Lac Morency in Saint-Hippolyte, Aventures Plein Air has been providing specific outdoor activities and packages for the last ten years. Aventures Plein Air offers various activities specific to their appropriate season. For example, some of their most popular winter activities provided include ATVing, snowmobiling and dogsledding. The dogsledding program is a particular favorite to Beaux Rêves and as such, has been included in some of our winter packages.

Dogsledding was originally a method of winter travel induced by northern aboriginal culture and was adopted by early Europeans who established it as an efficient form of travelling goods across land blanketed in snow. As technology began to develop and methods of transportation improved, dogsledding was soon taken on as a winter sport. Whether you want to be a real “musher” and decide to drive your own sled with four to six dogs or choose to have your guide drive it for you, Aventures Plein Air will make the experience worth your while as you travel through the breathtaking scenery and unique trails prepared for dogsledding in particular.

The Packages

With the winter season still underway, our dogsledding packages are growing in popularity as well. Whether you’re an expert or are contemplating trying dogsledding for the first time, Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves can provide you with the package that best suits your desires.  If dogsledding is something you would like to try, our Auberge and spa offers a two night accommodation package which includes an initiation to dogsledding, two country breakfasts, one dinner table d’hôte of four or five services, one 60 minute spa treatment per person and three day access to our Nordic Spa. If staying overnight is not an option, you can book our Spa and Initiation to Dogsledding Day Spa package which includes a tour of Morency Lake for approximately 30 minutes and a block of four hours at the spa.

5 Ways a Trip to the Spa Can Help You Beat the Winter Blues

Description & Details

It sets in around this time every year – you’re fed up with the cold, you miss seeing the sun after 4 PM, and you start daydreaming of the ocean and palm trees; it’s called the “Winter Blues”. Luckily, you don’t have to escape to an island in the Caribbean to beat it – the cure is just a 45 minute drive away, at our Nordic spa in the Laurentians. Here are our suggestions to help you beat the winter blues this season:

Relieve Stress with a Massage

Don’t bottle it all up! Massage therapy is a simple, non-invasive way to reduce stress levels, help slow your heart rate, and bring down your blood pressure. It’s science – a massage will reduce your cortisol level (also known as the stress hormone), while increasing your level of endorphins (your body’s “feel good” chemical”). So schedule a massage and let one of our expert technicians relieve your stress!

Help Ease Congestion with a Steam or Jacuzzi

DSCN3471Has the winter weather left you congested and sneezing? Forget chicken noodle soup and ginger tea, a Nordic spa day is what you need to feel like yourself again.  Breathe easier and beat the winter cold with a sauna or a soak in the Jacuzzi.  The heat and steam from the sauna or Jacuzzi will help clear up your congestion from your nose to your chest. In fact, adding eucalyptus, a natural decongestant, will intensify the benefits of the steam; a steam in our eucalyptus steam room will undoubtedly do the trick!

Unplug Completely

Sometimes, all you need is a little “me time”. Escape it all and spend a few technology-free and stress-free days at the spa. Put down phone and spend a few days enjoying spa treatments, soaks in the Jacuzzi, steams, and much more. In fact, our auberge and spa believes that completely unplugging is great for your health and mind; our rooms do not have televisions, phones, radios or clocks. A few days unplugged at our Nordic spa will leave you refreshed and ready to face what’s left of winter!

Rejuvenate Your Skin

The winter can be particularly harsh on your skin; it can leave it dry, dull, itchy, and even cracking. A trip to the spa to exfoliate your skin is important to rejuvenate your skin, as well as help your skin produce natural moisture. Schedule an exfoliation treatment to scrub away those dead skin cells and revive your skin.

Spend Quality Time with Friends and Family

Nothing can lift your spirits like quality time with friends and family. Schedule a weekend getaway at the spa to catch up and relax with loved ones. A few days of laughter and relaxation will leave your mind, soul, and body refreshed – and “winter blues” free!

Our auberge and spa in the Laurentians has everything you need to kick the winter blues this winter. At our Nordic spa, you’ll enjoy a natural Jacuzzi with jets, a natural thermal stone pond, a Finish barrel sauna, a eucalyptus steam room, an outdoor relaxation area, and more, as well as many highly rated spa treatments.

Reserve your getaway online or by phone at (800) 279-7679 or (514) 316-7808 and let us help you beat the winter blues today!

A Month-long Promotion for the Love-struck

Description & Details

A beautiful woman enjoying a beauty treatment at the spaWith Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we know you are starting to think of doing something special for your partner. We all work hard in our day to day lives and as life gets in the way, sometimes we forget to make time for our romantic relationships.  Our Auberge and Spa is a great place to unplug from your day to day life in the city and with our Valentine’s Day promotion, doing so seems hard to resist.

Throughout the month of February, with any package purchased at Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves , any additional 60 minute spa treatment is only $39.00. Our spa treatments are designed to not only help our clients relax and forget the stress placed upon them from everyday life, but to also help them leave healed and rejuvenated.

Some examples include:

  • Massages
  • Body treatments
  • Body care exfoliating and wrap treatments
  • Back treatments
  • Facial treatments
  • Leg and foot treatments

There are valuable benefits to treating your partner to any one of these treatments. Though you can choose from the therapeutic massage, reflexology, lymphatic massage or hot stone massage, the Swedish massage has become one of the most popular massages that our clientele often resort to. It consists of a sequence of movements applied to the muscles and joints to restore tired and tense muscles. The Swedish massage involves the movement of the joints, soft, long, kneading strokes as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes on the surface level of your muscle. It is both relaxing and energizing as it aids in relieving muscle tension.

Moreover, our Exfoliation treatments are essentially for maintaining healthy, smooth skin and are often a popular choice for many who visit our Auberge and Spa. This spa treatment consists of delicately rubbing the skin with sea salt, lotus salt or coffee scrub. This treatment allows your body to shed its old cells and reveal the new skin below. The rubbing action will aid in both skin renewal and increasing blood circulation to the surface of the skin and the draining of the lymph nodes.

Are you contemplating spending some time at Auberge and Spa Beaux Rêves in the month of February? It would be our very pleasure to provide you with the relaxing experience both you and your significant other desire. Contact Beaux Rêves by email at bienvenue@beauxreves.com or call (800) 279-7679 to book your package and spa treatment.

Auberge & Spa Beaux Rêves’ 20th Anniversary!

Description & Details

beaux-reves-20th-anniversary

2015 is an important milestone for our auberge and spa in the Laurentians. On December 15th, 2015, Auberge & Spa Beaux Rêves is celebrating its 20th anniversary! In honour of this significant achievement, we wanted to share a little bit about our auberge and spa’s history and our evolution into one of the most acclaimed day spas and outdoor Nordic spas in the Laurentians.

Renovations through the Years

It all started in 1995, when Hannes Lamothe purchased a single family home and converted it into a small four bedroom bed and breakfast. Hannes still owns and manages the auberge today and is the driving force behind the evolution of the Nordic spa on the picturesque property by the river.

signature-suites-laurentians

Beaux Rêves has undergone several renovations over the years to make it into the inviting 13 room auberge and spa that it is today. Shortly after opening, an extension was added in the back to add additional rooms and a deck facing the river was built. Our second building overlooking the river was added in 2002; six suites and a loft were added, all with in-room fireplaces and Jacuzzis.

In June 2015, our loft suite was converted into 3 new contemporary and luxurious “Signature” Suites. In our Signature Suites, guests will enjoy a warm, relaxing environment, a large private furnished balcony overlooking the river, a fireplace, a Jacuzzi, a mini fridge and a Keurig machine.

Our Continuously Evolving Nordic Spa

In the early days, guests greatly appreciated our outdoor Jacuzzis. We even dabbled in thermotherapy by suggesting a dip in the cold river water in the summer or rolling around in the snow in the winter!

However, it’s in 2009 that Hannes’ vision of a Nordic spa truly came to life and many renovations and additions were made to the spa. Several rooms were transformed into changing rooms, and a relaxation room and steam room were added to offer a day spa to clients and guests.

At this time, Beaux Rêves also began offering an array of highly rated spa treatments, all provided by our spa’s experience technicians and therapists.

IMG_2579_sky_Enhanced2013 was a landmark year for our Nordic spa. We expanded our facilities, adding a second sauna, an infra-red zone, a cold waterfall and a natural stone thermal pond.

Most recently, in November 2015, we installed a second natural stone pond with jets!

Although our Nordic spa and treatments continue to expand, we always keep our capacity to 40 spa-goers at time in order to maintain a relaxed, uncrowded atmosphere. Learn more about our Nordic spa in the Laurentians.

Recognition from the Tourisme Industry

All the efforts to make Beaux Rêves more attractive and to offer an outstanding service to our guests was rewarded in 2014, when our auberge was the winner of the Grand Prix du Tourisme, in the 40 units or less lodging category, for the Laurentian region.

Our Auberge and Spa Today

Whether you come up for the day or spend the night, our guests agree that our auberge and spa is truly a hidden gem in the Laurentians. Beaux Rêves is the ideal getaway in the Laurentians for a relaxing getaway for couples, friends and groups.

Our auberge and spa has evolved exponentially over the last 20 years and we can’t wait to see what the next 20 years brings! And while Beaux Rêves will without a doubt see countless changes over the next 20 years, one thing’s for certain, the warm and friendly atmosphere and staff will always remain the same!

5 Simple Ways to Rejuvenate Your Skin For Spring

Description & Details

24680_329112977458_3173842_nWinter is good for a lot of things – fun outdoor activities, Christmas, picturesque scenery – but one thing it is not good for is your skin. The cold chill of winter leaves your skin dry, dull, and lifeless. That’s why, when the snow starts to melt and the days start to get longer, your skin is in dire need of an overhaul. It’s time to refresh and renew your skin. Below, our Nordic spa in the Laurentians has outlined the many simple ways you can rejuvenate your skin for spring and how we can help!

1. Exfoliate

This past winter has been particularly harsh and has no doubt left you with dry skin due to an accumulation of dead skin cells. Exfoliating your skin will help scrub away those dead skin cells and reveal the radiant, smooth complexion that’s underneath. Use a mineral salt or a sugar scrub to exfoliate your skin a couple of times a week and unveil new, glowing skin!

Better yet – lie back and relax and let us do it for you! Our special exfoliation treatment combines massage and exfoliation to facilitate hydration and remove dead cells from the skin. Prepare yourself for unequalled relaxation and beautiful skin!

2. Get a Facial

Put your best face forward for spring! Take your exfoliation one step further and revitalize your appearance with a facial.

Our in depth treatment is ideal for all skin types and will leave your skin fresh and revitalized. Here’s how we do it: First, we scrub away the dead cells that winter has left on the surface of your skin; then, we use a cleansing mask to revitalize your skin. A vaporization of essential oils, the extraction of blackheads, and a neck massage are included in the treatment.
stockvault-water135411
3. Drink More Water

Yes, it’s that easy. Think of your skin as a sponge; without water, it dries up. Your skin needs water to retain it’s natural smooth texture and glow. So drink up!

Tip: infuse your water with cucumber or lemon to keep it interesting!

4. Warm Showers

Warm – not hot! Hot water is tough on your skin and burns away several important minerals and oils, which leaves skin dry and cracking. Using lukewarm water in the shower will ensure that your skin keeps its moisture and is refreshed and radiant.

5. Moisturize

There’s no more straightforward way to give your dry skin back the nourishment that it needs than to moisturize it. Moisturizing once a day is a great and easy way to keep your skin looking healthy and nourished. Make it part of your routine – moisturize every night before bed, or after every shower; whatever fits your schedule.

Tip: use a moisturizer that’s oil-based; water-based moisturizers are fine in the summer, but to recover from winter’s harsh conditions, your skin needs something with a little more kick! Moisturizing with an oil-based moisturizer will create a protective layer on your skin that will help it retain moisture.

Bonus: Wear Sunscreen

A big misconception is that you only need to wear sunscreen during the summer; however, it’s just as important to wear it in the winter! Wear sunscreen in the winter (and all year round!) to protect your skin from the damaging effects of UV rays. Protecting your skin year round will keep it looking radiant and healthy.

Follow these simple tips and your skin will look renewed in no time! In fact, why not treat yourself to a treatment at our spa in the Laurentians? Contact us to reserve your treatment now. We also offer overnight spa packages which allow you to experience our cozy auberge in the Laurentians, as well as benefit from our specialized treatments and Nordic spa; rejuvenate your mind while you rejuvenate your skin!

Auberge & Spa Beaux Rêves - GRAND PRIX DU TOURISME QUÉBÉCOIS 2014We are very proud to announce that on March 26th Auberge & Spa Beaux Rêves was the recipient of the GRAND PRIX DU TOURISME QUÉBÉCOIS 2014 in the 40 units or less lodging category, for the Laurentian region.

For 18 years now, Auberge & Spa Beaux Rêves has been run by the same owner, Hannes Lamothe. Year after year, Hannes has maintained the distinct charm to his spa auberge by enhancing its facilities, while preserving the site’s natural scenic beauty. Notably, in 2013, a complete Nordic spa was added to the auberge.

Today, the auberge offers its visitors 11 rooms and riverfront suites, the majority of which are equipped with a fireplace and a double Jacuzzi. The auberge spa’s luminous hall, for meetings or receptions, offers an undeniable advantage for groups and business travellers.

Auberge & Spa Beaux Rêves’ amenities compare favourably to the other establishments in the region. However, the auberge remains a step ahead by harmoniously integrating its facilities with its picturesque surroundings. A large new thermal pool made of natural stone, a cascading waterfall and a traditional Finnish barrel sauna, are only a few examples of the uniqueness of this Nordic spa in the Laurentians. Notably, all of its facilities, such as the changing areas and relaxation areas, have been enhanced to ensure the most satisfying of experiences.

awardbannerIn terms of spa treatments, physical or aesthetic, the experienced professionals are continuously innovating to offer a variety of services, of the highest quality.

Finally, clients are always greeted in a charming and intimate atmosphere, which keeps them coming back!

This prestigious award comes after being awarded three consecutive certificates of excellence by Trip Advisor in 2011, 2012, 2013. This recognition confirms that the exceptional effort that Hannes and his team provide to the auberge day after day has not gone unrecognized!

A Little Auberge Beaux Reves and Nordic spa history from Sainte-Adele in the Laurentians.

Description & Details

IMG_0860A Little Auberge Beaux Reves and Nordic spa history from Sainte-Adele in the Laurentians.

Built in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s, this original building was a multifamily duplex. Take a drive around the surrounding area and you will find similar stone buildings all with their own unique style. These homes are very unique and typical to this part of Sainte-Adele.

Having gone through multiple owners and various renovations it wasn’t until the late 60’s or early 70’s when an English immigrant converted the multifamily duplex into a single family dwelling by completely opening up one half of the building to create a huge living space open to 3 floors.

This particular property bordering ‘’ Riviere aux mulets’’ river is located on the north end of town on Blvd. Sainte-Adele.

In 1995 the property was purchased and a major renovation was done to get it ready for the opening of a four room bed and breakfast.

In 1998 an extension was added, out back to increase the number of rooms to seven with a superb deck on top facing the river thus bringing the status from bed and breakfast to Inn.

In 2002 a 2nd building was added to the property adding six suites and a loft all with fireplaces, Jacuzzis and right on the river.

In 2009 a change in business strategy brings on the transformation of the three lower rooms to become changing rooms, relaxation room and steam room. The Inn is now open to public for day spa visits.

In 2012 many updates and renovations are done to the main building, including the rooms facing the river as well as the dining room and the vestibule to the steam room. A second sauna, infra-red heated zone and flagstone patio were all added to increase Nordic spa amenities.

Stay tuned as 2013 has many projects already underway such as the completion of a Nordic year round waterfall, private relaxation areas and a unique natural stone bolder hot tub.

“Le P’tit Train du Nord” Linear Park – cycling and cross country skiing

Description & Details
“Le P’tit Train du Nord” Linear Park

Welcome to the longest linear park in Canada located in   the heart of the Laurentians via the old railway line built in the early   20th century.  The linear park     “Le P’tit Train du Nord” is 230 kilometers of incredible beauty,     along many rivers and lakes.  From     Saint-Jérôme to Mont-Laurier, discover the Laurentians in its natural state     as you pass through beautiful villages surrounded by forests and     mountains.  Enjoy the four seasons,     each with their wealth  and explore     by bike, inline skates, cross country skis or snowmobile.  Since 1996, people have come to enjoy     this park which is accessible to all due to its low elevation and multiple     service points. The train stations in the period architecture are sometimes     transformed into coffee shops, warm huts or for rental and repair of     equipment. The trail is dotted with picnic areas in scenic places for     everyone to enjoy the adventure at their own pace.

“Le P’tit Train du Nord” was the dream of the     legendary pastor of St. Jerome, Antoine Labelle. Built between Saint-Jérôme     to Mont-Laurier in the years 1891 to 1909, the railroad was going to be key     to the development of the region. “Le P’tit Train du Nord” has     fostered the growth of the tourism industry in the Laurentians. Upon     entering the station early locomotives, holiday resorts come to life.     “Le P’tit Train du Nord” particularly enjoyed unprecedented     success during the 1920s to 1940, when the Canadian Pacific Railway, owner     of the land, set up the snow trains. Happy convoys leaving Montreal every     weekend, carrying large nature lovers and skiers who were indulging in     skiing, a new popular sport in the region. “Le P’tit Train du Nord     “made his last trip for travelers November 15, 1981 and for freight in     1989. Seven years later, in 1996, the linear park “Le P’tit Train du     Nord” was inaugurated. Since then, the station has been renovated and     converted into points of service and the linear park generates a complete     tourist activity to accommodate cyclists, skaters, skiers and snowmobiling.

Aerobic Corridor (58 km)

Former route of the railway from Morin-Heights in Saint-Rémi     d’Amherst, park Aerobic Corridor invites cyclists looking for an experience     of nature. Less busy, the Corridor offers 58 km of trails through scattered     lakes, lush valleys and crossing the fabulous Red River wilderness. A nature     experience in its purest form!

Auberge and Spa Beaux Reves  is located nearby in Ste-Adele and offers all spa services and a wide variety of activities and outdoor excursions.

L’eau à la bouche closes its doors!!!

Description & Details

L’eau à la bouche closes its doors!!!

With great regret this blog is dedicated to L’eau à la bouche a landmark establishment in the Laurentians Sainte-Adele, Quebec. Sadly, after 34 years of being an icon as a Fine dining establishment, L’eau a la bouche restaurant, L’eau a la bouche hotel and L’eau a la bouche H2o Spa have announced that they have gone bankrupt and have closed their doors as of April 2013.

It is very unfortunate to see the owners Anne Desjardins and Pierre Audette have had to let go of their lifelong dream. For many years Eau à la Bouche restaurant  attracted travelers, vacationers and corporate business from all over the province, as well as having a great international reputation.

After opening in 1979 only 7 years later they became part of the ‘’Relais et Chateaux’’ which recommends charming hotels and gourmet restaurants. Classified as one of the best, their reputation was well on its way… l’eau à la bouche means “mouthwatering”.  The kitchen used native local ingredients as well as unique à la mode presentations and won many culinary awards over the years.

Sainte-Adele in the heart of the Laurentians will miss this fine establishment and it will certainly effect an already economically challenged tourism situation in our area.

Auberge Beaux Reves and Spa Nordic in the Laurentians Sainte-Adele Quebec would like to thank the owners of  L’eau a la bouche Anne Desjardins and Pierre Audette for all that they have brought to Sainte-Adele and for being a class business neighbour.

4 of 5 starsReviewed 15 March 2013

This is the kind of spot that is laid back enough that you don’t feel like you have to have perfect makeup and hair while you enjoy the spa. Yet it is romantic in room setting and with natural outdoor beauty. The rooms are meant for rest, relaxation and romance…..no televisions, phones or alarm clocks! I have been here twice and plan to return!
